We're seeking a talented Senior Drainage Engineer to join our growing team in Birmingham.
As a Senior Drainage Engineer at Waterman, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in delivering impactful projects while working alongside a team of experienced professionals.
The Role
As a Senior Drainage Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in the design and delivery of drainage systems for a variety of infrastructure and development projects. You will work on a wide range of projects, including residential, commercial, healthcare, and transportation schemes. This role offers excellent potential for career development, with opportunities to take on more responsibility as the team continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design and management of drainage systems for both new build and redevelopment projects.
• Develop conceptual drainage schemes and infrastructure design packages from initial concept through to construction.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Work closely with clients and stakeholders, providing technical guidance and support.
• Manage the preparation of technical memos, design reports, and drawings.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of planning applications and coordination with local authorities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and team members.
• Support business development activities and contribute to the preparation of proposals.
What We’re Looking For
• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in drainage design and project delivery within the infrastructure or development sectors.
• Strong knowledge of UK engineering standards and guidelines related to drainage and highways infrastructure.
• Proficiency in drainage design software such as MicroDrainage, Civil 3D, and AutoCAD.
• Experience with the negotiation and securing of agreements (S104, S106) and the interpretation and discharge of planning conditions.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, managing projects from concept to delivery.
